Here's to a happy, healthy 2007 for all Americans and their friends. The new year will start out with the same old problems for most of us and the nation, but hope indeed springs eternal. With the new Congress, a miracle could occur and worthwhile legislation could result, but I wouldn't hold your breath. The Democrat led Congress will conduct numerous investigations which will lead to naught and the air will be filled with promises and accusations from the guzillion candidates who will be running for President in 2008. The debate over Iraq will continue but changes in strategy and policy will continue to be based on conditions on the ground, not on the opinions of people who are either naive or flat don't know what's going on.
Hopefully common sense will reign in dealing with our energy needs and permit more drilling off the Atlantic and Pacific continental shelves, in the Gulf of Mexico and in ANWR. R&D must continue full bore on alternatives to fossil fuels.
What happened to all the fighting that was supposed to occur if Saddam was executed ? Does the fact that demonstrations against the new Iraqi government and the USA failed to occur because of Saddam's execution suggest that most Iraqis and neighboring Islamic countries are glad he's gone ?
